AccuRef 60 & AccuRef 20 Permanently Installed Silver Chloride Reference Electrodes
These electrodes represent state-of-the-art technology and are a result of MCM’s commitment to on-going research and development for the Cathodic Protection industry.
- Electrode: Permanent Silver Chloride Electrode.
- Applications: Direct burial in soil, with or without chloride ion contamination.
- Reads 100mV less negative than CuSO4 electrode.
- Low Freezing Point: –20oC.
- Design Life: 60 years (AccuRef 60), 20 years (AccuRef 20).
- Purity: High purity Ag, AgCl, KCl and triple de-ionized H2O.
- Cost: Less expensive than most Copper Sulfate permanent electrodes.
- Tip: Moisture absorbent ceramic tip.
- Evaporation: Will not dry out at low humidity and/or high heat.
- Wire: 25 feet of AWG 12 lead wire; cross-linked Polyethylene jacket, direct burial, low leakage, 600 V, 90o C Rating, USE-12/RHH/RHW-2. Longer lengths of wire are available.
- Electrical Contact Surface Area: Approx. 16.4 square inches (a cylindrical surface, 1.5 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches in length).
The AccuRef Permanent Electrodes are designed for 100-year life expectancy, de-rated for engineering practices to 60 years (AccuRef 60) and 20 years (AccuRef 20).
Corrosion inhibitors are added to the internal solution preventing any migration of the KCl from causing accelerated corrosion on a nearby metal structure.
Antifreeze is added to the solution to lower the freezing point to –20oC. This prevents the AccuRef Permanent Electrodes from freezing and cracking due to a deep frost.
Boiling point is 100 degrees Centigrade.
AccuRef 60 contains 8 grams of high purity Ag 99.99%, 2 grams of AgCl 99.99%, and 500 Milliliters of saturated KCl. Dimensions: 2.77” diameter, 15” long and 3.9 pounds.
AccuRef 20 contains 3 grams of high purity Ag 99.99%, 0.75 grams of AgCl 99.99%, and 200 Milliliters of saturated KCl. Dimensions: 2.77” diameter, 11” long and 1.9 pounds.
