At last, a hand-held data logger solution for the information-intensive task of
gathering data at a pipeline excavation. We bundle together a rugged PocketPC with
full keyboard, a ruggedized 8 MegaPixel digital camera with bluetooth
(the Ricoh 500SE), MCM’s own Bluetooth Digital Voltmeter (BTDVM), a GPS adapter,
a noise reducing headset and Nuance’s Dragon Naturally Speaking speech-to-text
software to dramatically ease the data gathering process at the excavation site.
We build this data logger software to order; adapting the program to your own
internal procedures and criteria.
Key features and Benefits
- Compatible with ProActive – a very large upgrade to the capabilities of the Anomaly object in the database.
- Tracks excavation location by both GPS and pipeline linear measurement.
- Provides flexible data entry for Wall Thickness, Coating Thickness, Coating Defects, Corrosion, Stress Cracking
and third-party damage observations.
- Flexible audio note taking using wind/highway noise-reducing headset. Recordings can be transcribed into text
in ProActive and are also kept in the ProActive database for replay at a future time.
- Compatible with Ricoh Caplio 500SE Bluetooth GPS Camera which takes excellent close-up shots of corrosion. Pictures can be previewed on the handheld
screen before being saved to the database. The Intermec hand-held also has a low resolution
camera which can be convenient when taking situational shots of the site. All photographs are
tagged with their GPS coordinates, Dig Identifier and date/time.
- Provides tracking for chemical and biological samples.
- Data items for all the Pipe-to-Soil potentials, Soil Resistivity readings, Depth of Cover and pH taken at the site.
- Tracks all remediation activities taken during the pipeline excavation.
