Training
During the ProActive database deployment process, training is
provided onsite to a designated ProActive administrator. This
training typically takes 1 day and is included in the price of the
deployment process.
MCM offers a 3-day training course on the functionality of the G1
data-logger and ProActive which is aimed at technicians who will
actually be collecting data using the G1, on site surveys, and
posting their readings data to the database.
The 3-day training course is usually delivered at the customer’s facility by an MCM instructor where participants can have network access to the database server via their laptops (typically), with ProActive Client installed, and they can also have their G1 data-logger connected (via an ActiveSync connection) to their laptop.
It is highly recommended that technicians (and any other ProActive users) meet together with the ProActive administrator one day in advance of the 3-day training course at the training facility, in order to resolve any connectivity issues users may have and to make sure that user’s laptops are properly configured with Server Client (for example Oracle Client), ProActive Client and ActiveSync. With everyone properly connected and configured, participants can focus on the functionality training and not be distracted by these other issues.
The training is conducted in a classroom environment and there is also opportunity to take the G1 data-loggers out to record some actual data, if facilities are available to do so. Demonstrations of data-logger and ProActive functionality are presented on a screen via a computer monitor projector (provided by the customer in the training facility).
Key processes are demonstrated, such as logging in to the database, checking-out a Briefcase, building routes in Briefcase (off-line) mode, downloading route data to the G1 data-logger, collecting readings on a site survey, posting survey data to ProActive (in Briefcase mode), updating the database with newly collected readings (via Briefcase/Server synchronization) and generating both graphical and textual reports.
Following these demonstrations, participants are given the opportunity to go through all of the key processes themselves by means of exercises.
Training documents are provided on both ProActive Client-Server and the G1 data-logger, which detail each of the key processes in a step-by-step manner.
